The Path of Faith

They represent a generation of hope and a whole new world of Grace. Young and unleashing promises of a higher call, it was on December 15, 2006 that a group of 15 came together for a worthy cause. Known as the ‘Release Worship Team’, they have ever since worked towards achieving a goal, much too close to their hearts.

Most of them students, with the exception of two working members, they’re already up for the Lord at so young an age. In their own words, they wish ‘to tell the Word and reach the un-reached people through Songs, Music and Counselling’. Their noble endeavour goes beyond their musical gifts and they epitomise instruments of ‘work-culture’ that is so often stressed upon. They are a bunch of youth who are not ashamed to indulge in daily wage, and while that in itself is admirable, it’s even more significant that the reason behind it lies not in the intention of profitable gains but in order that they can create moments of blessings for wounded souls. Their hard labour is seen in the pickles they make and sell, in the bookmarks they design and the similar other aids they try to generate resources from.

Initially having their roots in a local church in Dimapur, they have now left impressions on various crusades. In the past, the Release Worship Team were invited to lead the praise and worship for the Wokha Police Youth Crusade in 2006, the NERIST Itanagar Crusade in 2007, the IRB Jawans Crusade held at Chattisgarh in 2007 and the All Mokokchung Youth Crusade in January 2008. However they went on to organise the Dimapur Youth Crusade last year, which is also their first and since then, a couple of others have been thought about. Presently participating at the Longtho Crusade in Mokokchung, their upcoming plans include Warumong Youth Crusade, another Leadership Training to be held at the Generation Countdown Youth Ministry Service in Dimapur and a rather bigger Crusade in Changki to be held in the last week of August under the theme ‘Rebuild’.

The most striking feature about this Team perhaps lies in the fact that none of them have Theological backgrounds. It was rather out of their own personal interests that a visionary quest was formed. Besides leading believers in singing, they also conduct Workshop on praise and worship, which is basically done by contacting churches and practically reaching them in worship through the word of God and music. Passionate for Christ and talents in place, they compose songs themselves and have a humble story to tell of acquiring their own musical instruments. They began with their own personal acoustic guitars and borrowed other instruments from elsewhere when they needed it. To which end, one of the members gratefully says “it’s amazing to see the blessings of God” as he recalls how after one eventful crusade, Mar Longkumer and Bur, both of them Counsellors at the Bethel Prayer Centre donated a Bass Guitar and a Solid Guitar respectively for their use. They further express “for us every crusade, seminar or revival is history because we cannot believe what God is doing in our lives unceasingly.”  The Team also regrets that “people are so concerned about the money to save souls”.  And in further confessing that every experience in their outreach ministry has taught them well, they have rested all their cares on God and confidently proclaim that “money comes where God gives a vision”. They delight also in charitable works and bless the lives of those in need by collecting old clothes and distributing them at the Rail Gate during winter. Having come quite a long way in their walk of faith, they say “it’s all because of God’s love and grace” that they have travelled thus far and goes on to thank their spiritual parents, Imtijungla Longchar, Author of several spiritual books, and Rev. Teyong Kichu, Lecturer at Reformation Bible College. They hold prayer fellowships twice a month in Viola Colony, Dimapur at their Team Gathering Place, as they call it wherein the first meeting is concentrated on ‘Prayer for Blessings’ and the other on ‘Thanksgiving’. The Release Worship Team that comprises of Bendang (Leader), Khalong, Imli, Tali, Mayang, Apong, Adiba, Chubarenla, Bendangrenla, Tiarenla, Ajungla, Sungjemongla, Sashimenla, Sentisenla and Aienla believes that the word ‘RELEASE’ was God’s own revelation to them. Ranging from the age 22-28, they all share a common goal, one that is far greater than just becoming successful in life. With faith firmly planted in their hearts, the Team adds “we believe and hope that the fruits will bear” and wishes to convey that “God really cares and loves.” “Don’t lose your faith” they sign off.
